Independent Director, Banking and Direct Investments

Richard has 30 years professional experience in international banking and direct investment in the CIS working for leading global and local investment banks and a sovereign investment institution.

Richard has also worked in education in executive and volunteer capacities: as Development Director in Eton College, where he managed Eton’s fundraising campaign, as a Co-Founder, of Educ@te, a London-based publishing company specialising in careers education publications in the higher education sector; as Deputy CEO of CRAC (The Careers Research and Advisory Centre), an educational charity based in Cambridge; and as adviser and mentor to the founder of Schole, which invested USD 13 million venture capital finance to establish a network of nine schools in Kenya and Uganda.

Richard is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director of Ameriabank in Armenia, where he is Chair of the Board Risk Committee and a member of the Board Audit Committee. His other connection to Armenia is through his volunteer involvement in the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative.

Richard was first introduced to UWC in 2002 as part of his job in CRAC and has been following the development of UWC Dilijan since before it was formally opened. 

Richard has a Master of Arts degree in Classics and Modern Languages from Lincoln College, University of Oxford.
