How to Apply: Pre-IB Diploma Programme
What is our Pre-IB Diploma Programme?
The Pre-IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous, year-long preparatory course for students aged 15 by 1 September 2022 designed to lay a foundation for the academic challenges of the two-year International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
The pre-IB is anchored in the IB mission statement: “The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.”
The UWC Dilijan Pre-IB Diploma Programme strives to:
- Deliver experiential learning based on the IB in an intentionally diverse community setting in line, which is a quintessential part of UWC life
- Prepare students for IBDP and UWC life
Who is it for?
The Pre-IB is for academically strong students who have the potential to participate in the IBDP but may lack the skills that are necessary to access it and require support in order to prepare for the rigour of the IB. For example, a student who has not been schooled in English before could benefit from a one-year programme to improve their academic English.
The Pre-IB Programme is adapted to the needs of the individual student, including different linguistic and educational backgrounds.
What does it entail?
Balanced integration - age-appropriate supervision, specific residential accommodation, dedicated pastoral care.
- Languages - Armenian, English, other Modern Languages
- Humanities - combined
- Science - combined
- Arts - Visual Arts and Theatre
- Interdisciplinary projects across subject areas
Students will participate in our extensive CAS (Creativity Activity Service) Programme with activities and clubs, discussions, meetings, off-site trips and outdoor adventures.
How much does it cost?
For the academic year 2022-23 the fee is US$30,000 with limited financial support available. The fee includes school fees, residential fees, medical insurance and curricular trips.
