Why UWC Dilijan
Founded in 2014 UWC Dilijan represents an exciting extension of the UWC movement into the Caucasus region at the junction of Asia and Europe. One of eighteen UWC colleges around the world, UWCD is the first international boarding school in Armenia for students ages 16 to 17 offering the IB Diploma Programme.
Inspiring teachers, a creative environment, perspectives from students from every corner of the world, small classes and a rigorous academic programme, International Baccalaureate (IB), recognised by universities worldwide and taught in English are the hallmark of a UWCD education.
A tight community of about 200 students and staff from 80 countries, we have strong bonds between students and staff, an active student body and ample opportunities to make a difference in the real world – in our town of Dilijan and the region. UWC Dilijan enables all to grow personally and socially while enriching the life of the college community and beyond.
UWC Dilijan has close links with a number of humanitarian, scientific and community organisations in its ecosystem and works with them for the common good locally and globally. It is a part of the UWC international education movement.
The college’s architectural design provides access to knowledge anywhere at any time through technology that fuels a continuous, relevant and adaptive learning environment. School spaces are designed to encourage collaborative learning, which is crucial for the development of a well-rounded student. The highest international standards, most advanced environmentally friendly and renewable technologies are employed in the construction.
UWC Dilijan’s grounds extend over 8 hectares of sloping and wooded countryside, located in the Dilijan National Park. The beautiful surroundings offer a unique chance to get to know Armenia and the wider Caucasus region throughout the changing seasons.
