IMPACT

UWC Dilijan’s aspiration is to make an impact on its students, alumni and staff as well as local and global communities we are part of.

By creating a world-class international school which is part of the worldwide UWC movement, we put Armenia on the world educational map.

By combining world-class facilities with the best teaching and outstanding opportunities for activities in Dilijan and the surrounding countryside, we create a model for balanced, ethical, internationally-minded education of world-class standard.

By integrating the school into the Dilijan community, we bring the experiences and cultures of over 100 different countries to the city and provide a living window into the rest of the world.

Outreach Projects

Equipping Armenian youth with advanced IT skills in partnership with Samsung Electronics

In 2021 UWC Dilijan and Samsung Electronics, a world leading technological company, established Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC). The goal is to make a contribution to Armenia by enabling Armenian youth ages 14-16 to develop their IT skills and learn the concepts related to Android mobile programming. Samsung Electronics has equipped the facility with the state-of-the-art technology, including 25 computer stations, smart boards and other devices essential for the delivery of the SIC programme in Armenia. Every weekend there are formal classes for 100 Armenian children delivered by Samsung-trained instructors.

First Model United Nation (MUN) in Armenia

DiliMUN is the first MUN organised by students of UWC Dilijan in Armenia. This simulation of the UN is an opportunity for young people aged 15-19 to challenge themselves academically, learn about diplomacy and international relations, and understand what global citizenship means. Every year since 2018, this event brings together youth from Armenia and around the globe, to have a firsthand experience of the United Nations and to increase awareness of our world.

TedxYouth@UWCDilijan

TEDxYouth@UWCDilijan, initiated in 2022 as one of UWCD's Creativity Activity Service (CAS) programmes,, serves as a platform to inspire, inform, and motivate young individuals in response to current global issues. Student-driven, TEDxYouth@UWCDilijan combines TEDTalks videos and live speakers at an event that encourages profound discussions and connections within a smaller group setting. It is held with the participation of local students.

Local Conference of Youth (LCOY)

LCOY is an event under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Its aims are to be a space to boost youth climate action locally and create an input into the international conferences. In 2023, UWCD students organised the first LCOY in Dilijan. About 80 young people from high schools across various regions in Armenia participated in the conference, which featured discussions with Armenian climate change experts as well as hands-on workshops on sustainability.
