Alumni project: Across Armenia 

In 2024, nearly a decade after graduating from UWC Dilijan, Katya Guryeva returned for a big dream: running the length of Armenia along the Transcaucasian Trail. Over 22 days, Katya covered 862 kilometers and 30,000 meters of climbing through vastly different landscapes - from jagged southern peaks and red-rock canyons to snow-covered hills and lush forests in the north. Supported by her partner and crew captain Jonas, alongside her sister Lisa (UWCD ‘19) and friends, the team managed to establish a Fastest Known Time on the trail. Following this team of self-professed ‘ambitious amateurs’, the film showcases the beauty of the TCT, and the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and resilience in making a long-term dream come true. 

Two years later, there is now a short film about the project - Across Armenia (runtime 32 minutes). The film was edited and produced by Lucia de la Torre (UWCD ‘16), Niloufar Javadi (UWCD ‘17), and Katya Guryeva (UWCD ‘17), proof of the life-long friendships formed at UWC Dilijan and a love for Armenia that is just as strong 10 years later.
