As I reflect on the last two years, my heart overflows with gratitude. Armenia, from August 2022 to May 2024, you were more than just a place—I found my home in your mountains, your streets, your people.

Sabastian Abelezele (Ghana, UWCD’16) and Marcos dos Santos (Brazil, UWCD’16) are first-generation graduates. Their friendship endured, despite both of them trying their hand on each other as barbers!

Hello! I still remember arriving in Yerevan as if it were yesterday, and almost 10 years later, I am thinking about it with my heart full of love and appreciation.

In 2022 Elena Vedovello (Italy, UWCD’18) published a novel “Yellow Flowers”. The book is dedicated to her UWCD co-year from Georgia Anano Mgebrishvili. 

When we were asked to share a memorable story of our friendship, so many things, big and small, came to mind. Like from the time when the three of us were still students at UWCD, waking each other up for the morning classes, organising each other’s birthday surprises and meeting each other’s parents for the first time.

Upon graduation this May, Jazzy (Belgium, UWCD’22) set off on her gap year journey. Reflecting on her experiences so far, she said: “After graduating, I travelled back home to Malaysia where I started to open myself to work opportunities that would help me make and save enough money for the beginning of my gap year.

Our alumna Katya Guryeva (Russia, UWCD’17) recently graduated from University College London (UCL) with First Class Honours with a BA in European Social and Political Studies, specialising in Urban Planning with Danish and Spanish.
