Bio
I grew up in Germany as the child of a British father and a German mother. After Graduating from my undergrad degree, I first worked for several years in IT sales in London, after a career change to teaching, I decided to go back to university to do my masters degree and moved back to Japan. There, I worked at an international middle and high school teaching in the IBDP and MYP until coming to Dilijan.
What is the favourite part of the course you teach?
My favourite part is the collaborative, deep thinking and discussing about language and literature together with the students. I enjoy seeing young people develop their own ideas about a piece of media they consume and uncover its hidden biases and intentions.
Which teaching method do you prefer and why?
I prefer a student-centred, application-focused approach to teaching. I believe that, more than simply transferring knowledge to students, a teacher's role is to provide them with opportunities to practise and hone skills. The exact content of teaching is almost secondary as learning itself is a set of skills that I try to help my students develop and master.
Who is your role model or mentor or who inspires you?
I'm inspired by my peers and students alike. More than anything, I find genuine curiosity incredibly inspiring, and seeing that in others gets me curious about new things.

Weightlifting, martial arts, music, reading, video games, hiking, windsurfing, hiking, running, trying new food, museums
