Bio
Teaching is a second career for me after working in a marketing consultancy in Europe and the US for 20 years. For the past 5 years I've been working as part of a team to set up the IBDP programme at an international school in Brussels, Belgium, and teaching IB Economics and Business Management. Much more satisfying than finding ways to sell more toothpaste and laundry detergent.
What is the favourite part of the course you teach?
Seeing students develop a passion for my subjects for the first time.
Which teaching method do you prefer and why?
Although I'm not particularly sporty, I like to think of myself as a coach - my job is to encourage, challenge and cajole students to perform at their academic and personal best.
Who is your role model or mentor or who inspires you?
Barak Obama for his pragmatic idealism.
What is your life motto?
"Management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things."
What are the three things you can't imagine your life without?
Garlic, The Economist, my kids (order subject to change depending on my mood).
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Travel
